Some pieces are made. Some are meant.
For five days in late January, MILA took up residence in the lobby of The Hilton on Little Queen Street, Melbourne. From Tuesday the 27th of January to the 1st of February, guests were invited to stop, sit, and create. Not to buy something off a shelf, but to build something entirely their own.
This was The MILA Atelier, brought to life through our Pieces of Us Collection.
What Happens Inside an Atelier
In your atelier, the customer is not just buying. They are creating.
They step into the process and build their own piece, guided but never restricted. It begins with a base. A chain, a thread, a starting point. Then comes the choosing: beads, resin hearts, charms that catch the light and hold meaning. The composition comes next. Layering, spacing, balance. Trying it on, adjusting the length, the way it sits against the skin. Adding. Removing. Rethinking. Refining.
What they leave with is something they shaped themselves.
It is tactile. It is intuitive. It is personal.
No two pieces were the same. No two stories were either.
Every charm, every bead, every heart in the Pieces of Us Collection was available to choose from. Pieces designed to carry meaning, made to be worn close to the skin.
The Heart She Carried Home
Among the many guests who passed through the lobby that week, one moment has stayed with us.
A woman visiting from the United States sat down at the atelier table. She was a Hilton guest, far from home, far from her daughter who lives in another country. She looked through the charms quietly, and then she chose a heart. And then she chose another. The same one, identical in every way.
One for her. One for her daughter.
She wanted them to carry the same heart. Across oceans, across time zones, across the distance that life had placed between them. Not a matching set. Something deeper than that. A reminder that no matter how far apart they are, they are held by the same love.
She left Melbourne with two hearts. Her daughter received hers across the world.
This is what The MILA Atelier is for. This is what the Pieces of Us Collection was always meant to hold.
